Kathleen Thrun is a distinguished realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty in Hingham, Massachusetts. Kathleen grew up in Hingham and raised her family there for over 25 years. Her career began in finance and then went to marketing. When her children were young, Kathleen would attend all the local broker's meetings and a family friend who was a realtor, who is still a realtor now in her 80s, and even sold Kathleen's parents their house, suggested that Kathleen become a real estate agent. Kathleen was already so interested in the architecture and history of Hingham that it just made perfect sense to her to make the switch. Kathleen has now been in real estate for about 15 years and is loving it. One of Kathleen's most memorable and proud accomplishments in her years in real estate was one woman in particular who she was helping to sell her home. She was moving from Hingham to Colorado to be with her family and had nobody local to help her. Kathleen was empathetic towards this woman, really going above and beyond and assisting her with everything she needed, including walking her through the house-selling process, keeping open lines of communication with the woman's daughter over the phone, and even helping her go through her own belongings, deciding what to keep and what to get rid of. She held her hand through the process, and the woman and her daughter were extremely appreciative of all that she did for them. This is, to Kathleen, what it's all about - helping each other. She treated this woman as if she were her own mother. If Kathleen were to give a new real estate agent a piece of advice, it would be to find a really good mentor. Someone who will take you under their wing and really show you the ins and outs of all things real estate and give you a solid foundation of knowledge to start your journey on. Kathleen challenges herself by always striving for 20-25% more business from the previous year, and invests in her business by putting 10% of each deal back into her business. When she has new clients, she loves to take them on tours of the town. Her family still lives in Hingham and it will always be home to her. In order to remain up-to-date in her field, Kathleen likes to read realtor.com and obtains a lot of information from her local board, the Plymouth Association. It really gives her an idea of everything that is going on in the real estate world. She believes the South Shore will always retain its value, or even increase in value. She was one of the co-founders of the Hingham Front Line Appreciation Group and helped raise over $40,000 during Covid to keep small businesses on the South Shore up and running.
